Richard Lewine, a Broadway composer and television producer, died May 19, 2005, at age 94, his family announced. Mr. Lewine, who resided in New York City and Charleston, SC, had Broadway writing or producing credits ranging from 1934 to 1975. In 1975 he conceived the Broadway revue, Rodgers & Hart. Back in 1934, he wrote songs for the revue Fools Rush In.

Following the death of composer Richard Rodgers, he ran the Rodgers & Hammerstein office during an important transitional phase.

Mr. Lewine's famous and groundbreaking TV producing credits include the original 1957 "Cinderella" musical by Rodgers & Hammerstein and starring Julie Andrews.

He also produced Cole Porter's "Aladdin" for TV, as well as the strange 1965 TV musical fairy tale that starred a young Liza Minnelli: "The Dangerous Christmas of Red Riding Hood" (with a score by June Styne and Bob Merrill).

Mr. Lewine also produced the 1965 TV special, "My Name Is Barbra," starring the emerging Barbra Streisand.

According to Internet Broadway Database, Mr. Lewine's other Broadway credits include producing Look to the Lillies (1970); music for The Girls Against the Boys (1959); music for Make Mine Manhattan starring Sid Caesar (1948); music for the "musical drama" Naughty Naught '00 (1937); music for the "musical melodrama" The Fireman's Flame (1937); and "additional music" for Broadway Sho-Window (1936).

Mr. Lewine is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Rivers Lewine, his children, Peter Lewine and Cornelia Fortier, daughter-in-law Deborah Gobble Lewine, son-in-law Russell Fortier, and four grandchildren: Richard Russell Fortier, and Mary, Annie and Eliza Lewine.
