World renowned mezzo-soprano Joyce DiDonato popped in on rehearsals for Michael Mayer's new Las Vegas-set production of Verdi's Rigoletto. With the swinging '60s in mind, Mayer conceived of the Duke (sung by Piotr Beczala) as a Sinatra figure leading his own Rat Pack-like group, including world-weary clown Rigoletto (sung by Željko Lučić). Here, Lučić performs the aria "Questa o quella" and DiDonato chats with Mayer, Beczala and Lučić about the production. Broadway's Susan Hilferty (Tony-winning costume designer), Kevin Adams (Tony-winning lighting designer), Christine Jones (Tony-winning scenic designer) and choreographer Steven Hoggett fill out the creative team of the production which begins performance Jan. 28 at the Metropolitan Opera.
