After a successful run at New Jersey's Paper Mill Playhouse, Disney's Newsies — the Alan Menken-Jack Feldman-Harvey Fierstein adaptation of the 1992 movie musical — is set to take Broadway by storm with its expanded score and plot, athletic dance numbers and David vs. Goliath tension. Jeremy Jordan stars as Jack Kelly, the leader of a gang of orphaned newsboys who strike against publishing magnate Joseph Pulitzer in 1899 New York. Kara Lindsay also stars as Katherine Plumber, a young reporter fighting to be taken seriously in a man's world. Directed by Jeff Calhoun, with choreography by Christopher Gattelli, the show opens March 29 at the Nederlander Theatre. Read the recent Playbill magazine feature here.
