Former "American Idol" contestant and Tony-nominated star of Rock of Ages, Constantine Maroulis leaves his bad-boy rocker image behind to play science nerd Melvin Ferd who, when covered in toxic sludge, becomes New Jersey's most famous superhero, the Toxic Avenger. Mara Davi (The Drowsy Chaperone) as Sarah, Mitchell Jarvis (Rock of Ages) as White Dude and Antoine L. Smith (Memphis) as Black Dude round out the cast of this sci-fi musical. Authored by Tony Award-winning Memphis writers Joe DiPietro (book/lyrics) and David Bryan (music), The Toxic Avenger runs through Feb. 12 at Houston's Alley Theatre.
