Rinne Groff's new play, Compulsion, uses music, marionettes, projections, live voiceover and three actors playing multiple roles to tell the fact-inspired tale of writer Sid Silver (played by Tony Award winner Mandy Patinkin), whose lifelong mission was to bring Anne Frank's diary to worldwide audience via his own stage adaption that retains the Jewish aspects of the young girl's story. Oskar Eustis directs the highly theatrical production at The Public Theater.
