Synopsis
Traces the sounds and the stories of the blues, from African chants and spirituals through “Let the Good Times Roll” with stops along the way for Delta and Chicago blues, “Strange Fruit,” and many others.

Originally produced at the Denver Center Theatre Company, (Donovan Marley, Artistic Director), a U S West premiere. First presented in New York by the New 42nd Street Inc. at the New Victory Theater, produced by Crossroads Theatre Company (Ricardo Khan, Artistic Director) in association with San Diego Repertory Theatre (Jeff Rowlings, Producing Director) & Alabama Shakespeare Festival (Kent Thompson, Artistic Director). This production opened at Lincoln Center’s Vivian Beaumont Theater on April 26, 1999.
