Synopsis
In Gore Vidal's adaptation of Frederich Durenmatt's play, Romulus is portrayed as a decadent, silly man who marries the Roman empress because of his eagerness to preside over the country as it falls to the Goths. His attitude is changed when he meets the Gothic general who, it turns out, admires much about Rome.
