Synopsis

An evening of two one-act plays, including A Phoenix Too Frequent, adapted by Christopher Fry from Petronius' story, and Freight by Kenneth White.

In A Phoenix Too Frequent, an ancient Roman widow plans to starve herself to join her husband in death, until a soldier guarding the husband's tomb charms her back into living.

In Freight, a group of black Southerners have a tense encounter with a white man on a train.
