Synopsis

A daughter of Irish immigrants in 1920s and 1930s Brooklyn loses her parents, is raised by an uncle who lusts for her, and waits patiently for the neighborhood lothario who turns out to be an alcoholic disappointment, but she still keeps her optimism.
