Backstage with The Addams Family's Jackie Hoffman

This is me, Jackie Hoffman, in all my loveliness, untouched. I’m wearing my black “Grandma” bra, which is actually the same color as my own regular bra… so we both have the same support. And a black <i>Cat on a Hot Tin Roof</i> slip. First step – here I am putting on my wig prep. Our hair supervisor, Barry Ernst, has already put on Grandma’s first eyebrow. And here comes the second… Now we’ve got the wig prep, the hairnet, two eyebrows, and two sexy moles. And now that we’ve got the eyebrows and moles on – now we’re ready for the crowning – the Grandma wig! Now that we’ve got the big stuff in place, I start putting on makeup…time for some Granny Face! Here I’m showing you the Ben Nye “Old Character” palette. The aging makeup that I use for Grandma is literally called “Old Character.” Now it’s time to take that “Old Character” and start painting on some lines and creases. This is my little cubby hole that’s on the wall in my dressing room, next to my dressing table. You can’t see it, but there’s a sink directly underneath. Yes ladies and gentlemen, Jackie Hoffman’s dressing room has running water. Broadway actors put on their own makeup. Our makeup designers drew up these charts for each of us. They show us the step-by-step process for how to put on our faces. The makeup is finished and here I am in all my ugly splendor! And I just happen to be holding up a copy of the absolutely hilarious CD, “Jackie Hoffman Live at Joe’s Pub,” now available on psclassics.com. Here I am – posing with magic by my dressing room door! I am now fully dressed… stocking, shoes, poncho. Grandma Addams is ready! Now sit back and enjoy this sampling of glorious Grandma photos... ;-)
