A new disco-inspired score by composer Alan Menken and lyricist Glenn
Slater propels the new musical Sister Act, based on the 1992
hit film about an inner-city club singer forced into hiding at a
convent after she witnesses a murder. Olivier Award nominee Patina
Miller stars as Deloris Van Cartier (the role originated by the show's
producer, Whoopi Goldberg), who ends up transforming the nuns' choir into a parish-saving
"sister act" that draws the attention of her enemies, and the Pope
himself. Tony Award winner Victoria Clark co-stars as Mother Superior
at the Broadway Theatre.
