Highlights From Broadway-Bound One Man, Two Guvnors
Inspired by Carlo Goldoni's commedia classic The Servant of Two
Masters, Richard Bean's One Man, Two Guvnors stars James Corden (The History
Boys) as butler Francis Henshall, a manservant pulled between two bosses
— and his own voracious appetite. Set in swinging-'60s England where jazz,
rock and pop were fusing together, the score includes a "skiffle" element
that uses disparate musical instruments (bicycle horns, anyone?) and found
objects to flavor the original music by Grant Olding. Tony winner Nicholas
Hytner (The History Boys, London's War Horse) directs. The
first Broadway performance of One Man, Two Guvnors is April 6 at the
Music Box Theatre. For more on the April 10 release of the original London
cast recording, click here.
