The cast of Broadway-bound A Christmas Story, The Musical presented three songs from the Benj Pasek & Justin Paul score for the press on Oct. 22. Based on the 1983 film of the same name, (itself based on the stories of raconteur Jean Shepherd) the musical unfolds in early 1940s Indiana as young Ralphie (played by Johnny Rabe) pines away for one special Christmas present — a Red Ryder BB gun — while dealing with a bully, his cantankerous "Old Man" (John Bolton) and a host of adults (including Santa Claus!) who insist the weapon will bring nothing but trouble. Here, the Pasek & Paul tunes "Red Ryder Carbine Action BB Gun," "Ralphie to the Rescue" and "A Major Award" underscore some of the story's most memorable moments. Directed by John Rando, previews begin Nov. 5 at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre.
